How much JOY does your work bring?

I finally watched the movie The Bucket List. Have you seen it? It not, I highly recommend that you watch it.  It has some very profound lessons and some hilarious moments.   The scene that stood out most for me was where Carter and Edward are sitting and looking at the pyramids and discussing the two questions that Egyptians believed they would be asked at the entrance to their proverbial pearly gates:

Did you find joy in your life?

Did your life bring joy to others?

These two questions are very applicable to all areas of life, and not just in a spiritual way.  How would you answer them?

Your work is a big part of your life, isn’t it?  As a business owner and entrepreneur, you have chosen to do what you do for many reasons.  It could be because you feel you need to give back to others, or you have a talent to share with others, or you want to leave this world a better place, or you make a lot of money.  Only you know the reasons for why you’re in the business that you’re in.  And only you know if you’re truly doing what you’re meant to be doing.

When you live and work according to your purpose you automatically enrich the lives of others because only you have the special solutions to their problems.  Once you realize the potential of the gifts that you have, you also realize that it’s your duty to share them – because there are people looking for exactly what you have to offer.   There are people who need you and who’s lives will change because of you.

Have you asked yourself recently, “does what I do bring me joy?”  and “does what I do bring others joy?”

If you can honestly answer yes to both questions then you know you’re on the right path.  You know you’re fulfilling your life’s purpose.  If you can’t answer yes to one or both of these questions, then what’s missing for you?  What would it take for you to answer yes?  As Carter discovered in the movie, life passes in a flash and it’s important to live it.  Dr Wayne Dyer says, “Don’t die with your music still in you.”  If you feel at any level that you’re not doing what you’re truly meant to be doing and you know that you’re the one who’s standing in the way of your own joy, then do what it takes to get out of your own way!

There are so many tools to help yourself release past baggage, communicate more effectively, and to feel joy!  Here’s another question for you, how much life do you have to spend to recognize that your business isn’t getting you the results you want?  There is always room for improvement, do whatever it takes to reach your highest potential.  When would now be a good time to start?

Avatar and my Life Purpose

This movie was spectacular.  Not just because of the special effects or the cinematography, but because of the story, the acting, and the emotions it made me feel.  It really took me on a spiritual journey and changed me forever.

The story is one that has been played out on Earth many times before. One people deems itself more powerful and entitled to resources that belong to another people.  Of course the result is war.  This story takes place on a planet 2 light years from Earth at a point in the future.  The movie showed a very black side of humanity but it also showed compassion and love.  My soul was hurting at the emotionless destruction and indifference that some of the humans in the movie showed.  Their one track mission to prosper and conquer was heartbreaking.

What surprised me was how I responded to those evil humans in the movie. Instead of anger and hatred for them I felt compassion and sadness that there are people out there who have so lost their way that they are capable of such violence.  It made me feel compassion for all the humans currently living on Earth who commit crimes.  It made me realize that my purpose here is to make this world a better place. To leave my footpint by teaching others how to be powerful without force and violence.  While watching that movie my vision became so clear to me.  And as soon as I got home I wrote it down. I’m sharing it here so that my Intention for it becomes even stronger.

My vision is to teach the power of language to children at the school level. The world is waking up to a new level of consciousness and awareness. NLP and alternative therapies are becoming more mainstream. I couldn’t be positioned any more perfectly. I have a knack for languages. I always have. And I’d forgotten that. So what I want to do is to empower the world by teaching it the power of language, internal and external. This is what NLP teaches. I have the base of knowledge. I want to take this to the schools because our children are our future. And they need to know the power of their words on themselves and on others.

The universe and the world are now conspiring with me to make this happen. Every day I do something to move me closer to this goal. The right teachers have always shown up for me. Now I have people showing up for me that will help me do this and make it happen. I don’t know the how yet. But I do know the what.

Watching the movie Avatar today just confirmed what I need to do here on Earth. It struck me as I was contemplating why I didn’t feel anger towards the humans who have been so brainwashed to kill. Realizing that that’s our reality here and now. And wanting to do something about it. I know what can be done. And I know I can do it.

Pink Panther 2

This one was a hoot! I heard that the second Pink Panther with Steve Martin was funnier than the first and I have to agree. It was embarrassingly funny. It was politically incorrect. It was everything that a mindless, slapstick comedy movie should be.

The cast was great and I loved the scenery. From shots of Paris to Rome and other parts of Italy, it was fantastic. If you’re looking for an escape from reality for a couple hours and want to laugh hysterically I highly recommend this movie.

Dark Knight

Bryan and I saw this last night and really enjoyed it. It was dark, twisted, and really creepy, but also filled with compassion and hope. It had much less of a comic book feel to it than the old Joker/Batman movie.

The driving scenes were fantastic as well as the other special effects. We really got to know the characters well because the movie didn’t just focus on action. I don’t want to give too much away but I would definitely see this movie again. It has a lot of aspect that you can’t fully explore and understand in just one viewing.

Highly recommended but definitely not for the younger kids.

Get Smart

If you’re looking for a laugh your butt of type of movie this one is great! My husband, Bryan and I went and saw it and really enjoyed it.

When I go to see this type of movie I never expect a great story. They’re all very similar: there’s a threat to the USA from some foreign power group, and the hero has to stop them. This movie is no exception. It’s the delivery of the story that’s absolutely hilarious in this film. It’s sort of a parody of James Bond but not quite. The cast was good and the dialogue witty. We laughed a lot and that’s the most important thing. This is one to add to the DVD collection.
