Put yourself in the hands of the universe–then you will have no need for control.

Beliefs and Knowings

I remember the day I experienced a very interesting shift in my business.  It happened as I was getting ready for a trade show.  I finally understood and believed in something that I had known for a long time.  And I decided to do something with that knowledge.

I had everything set up to attract huge successes at the show: my booth, my information, my forms, etc.  What I noticed was that I wasn’t on board.  My own attitude was all wrong.  Past experiences of failure (that f-word we all want to avoid), struggling to build my business, and not believing in my own ability kept me stuck in this mindset.  Now I found myself at a fork in the road.  I could either A: remain complacent and wishy-washy about the show and just go and hope to meet some people.  Or B: I could clean up my own attitude, commit my goals to paper, visualize my success, ensure my energy was high, and succeed!

It was completely my choice at this point because I had the knowledge, the information, and all those other things that make up a good trade show booth.  In fact, I realized, I had all the makings of a successful business, I just wasn’t allowing myself to be successful inside.

I chose path B.  I was 100% on board at every level and the trade show was a HUGE success for me. I met amazing people, made great contacts, and really moved my business forward.  AND I learned a valuable lesson: that attitude and beliefs mean the difference between success and the “f” word.

It is entirely up to you to succeed or fail.  That’s the case in business and in life and we all have that choice to make.  You can learn and think about things and feel like we’re not ready to play it big when in reality, you do know enough.  All it takes is just the decision to play big and the tools to let the limiting beliefs go.  I use all my knowledge every day to release my own stuff as it comes up so that I can nurture and live with an attitude and with beliefs that support me.  To me this means I am taking 100% responsibility for my own success and my own business.

Sure, it’s easier to blame it on the economy, on the government, on neighbours, demanding family schedules, and all sorts of other things.  There are lots of people out there who have these same circumstances and yet they succeed at very high levels.  They don’t use excuses and they implement what they know.  AND they ask for help when they need it.

I hope that all of you experience this shift in your businesses and your lives so that you’re ready to implement the knowledge instead of just know it.  There are awesome tools like NLP and hypnosis that help release negative emotions and limiting beliefs and help you get laser focused.  All it takes is personal responsibility and the willingness to do whatever it takes to succeed.

The importance of relationships

I love to network. I never used to because I never got results from it in the past.  I didn’t even like talking to people.  Now that I have a business networking is imperative and I have come to understand it’s purpose.

Think about it, any time you purchase a service or a product, why do you choose to purchase it from any particular business?  Chances are it’s because you’ve come to trust that establishment or someone you trust has recommended it.  If your experience with a particular product or service doesn’t meet your expectations, chances are you will not buy from there again.  And you will also likely tell others not to buy from there either.  After all, you want to help those you have trustworthy relationships to avoid a costy and disappointing mistake.

Now if you have a business and you’re the one who’s selling a product or service, why would customers buy from you? You have to establish that trustworthy relationship first.  Networking helps you to do this.  You get to know people and what they’re about and what they need.  This takes time.  The reason why some people thing networking doesn’t work is because they expect to get business after their first encounter.  Trust, like respect, has to be earned and this takes time.

Believe in your product or service, add value to others’ lives and businesses, and focus on building those strong, trustworthy relationships.  Your business will benefit only after others have benefitted.

It's the middle of the year…

It’s now almost half way through the year. Where were you last year at this time? Where do you want to be next year at this time?

What are you willing to do to get to where you want to be? What resources do you already have to get there? What resources do you need?

Balance is in

It’s hard to believe that it’s past the middle of May already. We’ve been so lucky with such warm weather lately. I’ve pulled out all the summer clothes again! Yay!

I’ve been enjoying gardening and cleaning up the yard with the kids. This past weekend we pressure washed and everyone got a turn. It’s one of my favourite chores but we do have a lot of area to pressure wash so I didn’t mind sharing the task.

I also started my meal planning calendar to make cooking and grocery shopping more organized. I’m planning meals on a per week basis and only 4 per week so that we still have flexibility and to make room for leftovers. I’ve been baking a lot more too and the kids always give me good feedback. Usually it’s “You make the best ____, mommy!” Gotta love it. This weekend I made pumpkin bread for the first time and it was a huge hit.

I feel like I’ve really got a good balance of work and play now. I have days off and I work when I am at work. I knew I would get into a nice routine again.  I am loving every minute of it!

Question: If you had all the money…

If you had all the money in you wanted, what would you do all day?

I would do exactly what I’m doing right now and on a grander scale. I would write books, make even more programs and teach NLP to kids. That’s my big life’s purpose and I intend to fulfil it. :)

We all get scared

I had another life lesson presented to me this past weeked.  I love how the unconscious mind works with the universe to give me wisdom whenever I least expect it! Now that I’ve developed such good rapport with my unconscious I am able to receive learnings more easily.

I’ve been focusing a lot of my energy on networking and spreading my message about exactly what I do. After the Marketing Mindset workshop I know that I now do this authentically and I feel good about it.

I found myself struggling this weekend and feeling really bummed about my business and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it! After all, I am doing everything I can, as fast as I can and the universe is responding with amazing opportunities. This feeling I had went deeper than receiving abundance or even being sure that I was doing the right things. When I finally got to the centre of the feeling I realized that I was afraid of success!

I have heard of many people having this fear and yet I never thought it applied to me because I love what I do. It is only now that I am faced with true success at doing what I love that this fear surfaced. As soon as realized it I felt better and I was able to let it go.

It’s a good thing that success takes time sometimes and there is a reason why the universe doesn’t give us all the answers at once. If we knew what big successes awaited us in the future I think we would get scared. I know I would have been terrified if someone had told me even a couple years ago that I would leave a safe and cushy job to be an entrepreneur! Now I was ready for it and I know that whatever awaits me will come at the right time. :)

Questions: Where did you go to school?

Where did you go to school?

Questions: Do you have a recurring dream? What happens in it?

Do you have a recurring dream? What happens in it?

The dream is about water. It’s usually an ocean of water all around me and I’m always protected from it but terrified that it will get me.  I’ve read that dreaming about water means there is emotional change happening in your life.  That could very well be true becuase I have done a lot of work emotionally on myself.
